Spanish Monastery Magic

This selection of photos was taken at the Benedictine Monastery of Santo Domingo de Silos in Burgos, Spain. The monastery has a hostel attached, at which, members of the public of all faiths and none are welcome to stay. I spent four days there sharing the daily routine of the monks, and came away fully relaxed and ready for a new school term. The camera I used suffered a mechanical failure, the curtain in the mirror mechanism did not retract fully, thus obscuring the bottom third of almost all these photos. I've cropped them as best I can to try and rescue something from the disaster, but the composition is compromised, unfortunately. Still, I hope you get something from these photographs. Frankly, the experience with the monks was so uplifting that the black and white digital memory of the experience is nothing compared to the technicolor living memory I carry with me!
